The Seed of the Phoenix

One of the most mysterious myths of ancient Egypt was the legend of the Phoenix. Rundle Clark in explains the relationship of the bennu bird to the phoenix and the symbolism it was intended to invoke.

Clark: "One has to imagine a roost extending out from the deep of the Abyss. On it rests a herald (a grey heron) of all things to come. It opens its beak and breaks the quiet of the dawn with the call of life and destiny, which 'determines what is to be and what is not'...

The Phoenix embodies the original Word of God (Logos) or declaration of fate which moderates between the God-mind and created things...In a sense, when the phoenix gave out the primeval call it put into motion the cycles of the calander. So it is the father of all divisions of time, and its temple at Heliopolis became the center of calendrical regulation."

This confirms what we suspected, that the notion of the phoenix is closely related to the Great Pyramid as the epoch and timekeeper of pharaonic kingship, both mystical and historical. The shafts from the King's and Queen's chambers are calendrical in that they point toward specific stars and fixed their processional and other cycles.

There is therefore a link between the phoenix and the pyramid as timekeepers of the stars of Orion and, by extension, the 'soul' of the Osiris-kings. In the Book of the Dead (Chapter 17) the question is asked: 'Who is he? . . . I am the great phoenix which is in Heliopolis . . .'

According to Rundle Clark the phoenix was a great cosmic bird which came from a distant and magical land beyond the earthly world called the Isle of Fire, the place of everlasting light beyond the limits of the world, where the gods were born or revived and whence they were sent into the world.

The Creation, the creation of man, and the purpose of human-kind - The connection with the Great Pyramid

,

God said through the prophet Habakkuk 2: 2-3 "Write the vision and make it plain upon tables that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and shall not lie: though it tarry, wait for it: because it will surely come, it will not tarry." In other words, the vision of the divine Plan will be made known at a foreordained time, "the time of the end" and when it is revealed, then display it on tables that everyone may read it fluently. What symbols would be most appropriate on such tables? As we have already seen, the figure of the pyramid is alluded to in both Old Testament and New Testament allegory, as for instance with reference to Christ as "the chief cornerstone" yet the "top stone", "the stone which the builders rejected", but it is yet to be "the head of the corner" (1 Peter 2: 4-7; Psalm 118: 22-24; Zechariah 4: 7)

Accordingly a Table revealing the Divine Plan of the Ages portrayed in pyramid symbols is show below:

But then, what is this Divine Plan thus portrayed? This is what the Bible and the Great Pyramid now reveal at "the appointed time."

God is accepted as being the great first cause, perfect, almighty and infinitely loving, otherwise He just would not be God. But this being so, then logically in the ultimate, there can only be one final result-perfection, however mysterious the process in the meantime by which this perfection is achieved may seem to us mortals. There is surely no escape from this logic. If God be infinitely loving but not Almighty, then His plans could fail. On the other hand, if He be almighty but not infinitely loving, we could be in for a hard time of it in the end. But as He is perfect, infinitely loving and almighty, nothing can thwart His plans and He cannot fail and so ultimate perfection is assured. Such a God could do no other than make a perfect job of everything He touches when He is through.

Also the Bible itself teaches ultimate perfection. Christ taught His disciples to pray "Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven." If God's will is yet to be done on Earth as it is in Heaven, it means that the time is coming when there will be no sin in the World, and if no sin, then there can be nothing that goes along with sin, that is, there can be no sorrow, suffering or death, for the same Scriptures say, "The wages of sin is death". In harmony with this, the Biblical prophecies distinctly state that this grand Utopia is coming, as for example in Revelation 21: 3-4, "Behold the tabernacle of God is with men . . . And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." As the Psalmist says in Psalm 18:30, "As for God, His way is perfect" , i.e. when His is through, the perfection of His plan will be demonstrated, however otherwise it may appear to be meantime to humanity, who do not understand the processes by which the Almighty is bringing this perfection about, for Isaiah 55: 8-9 says, "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."

The Great Pyramid tells the same story independently. How can the riddle of the Pyramid be solved and how can the mystery of the Bible be revealed? The answer is: By ascertaining the finality, the ultimate first, and then studying the processes by which that ultimate is arrived at. The mental procedure is just the same as in understanding the manufacture of any product. We do not try to understand processes until we first of all know what the product is, otherwise the processes would be quite meaningless. Similarly in the case of a machine we have never seen before, our first questions to the operator would not be: what is that wheel for? What is that little crank for? Etc. Our first question would be: What are you doing, what are you producing and then we would be in a position to understand the functions of the machine. So with the Divine operations. We must know the final result which God intends to produce, before we can comprehend the process during the ages present and past. Sometimes a certain process would appear to be just a hopeless mess if we did not know what was really going on. So with the Divine Plan. If we look at conditions as they are at present and even in the past too, without knowing the Divine Plan for the future and the ultimate “product” it would appear to be well-nigh a hopeless mess. Like the little boy who was taken from his country home into a big city, and shown the preparations for erecting a magnificent building. All the little child saw was poles, pipes, timbers, piles of cement, stones, sand, and plenty of dirt, and he naturally commented: “What a mess! What is it all about?” So many people look out into the World today and say: “What a mess, what is it all about, what is God doing with our planet?” The only way to answer the question is to ascertain what is the finality of the Divine Plan as designed and what are the processes during the ages by which this is achieved, and then we will understand the purpose of the “mess”.

Well, as the Great Pyramid enshrines the Divine blue-print for our planet, let us first of all examine it to ascertain what the destiny of the World is and then later proceed to find out the means by which this is achieved. The interior features of the Great Pyramid are shown on the Frontispiece. The only original entrance into the Pyramid is into the Descending Passage leading down into the Subterranean Chamber and finally on to the dead end of the Dead End Passage. This dead end symbolizes not a destiny but a finish, a termination, signifying that what precedes it comes to an end. It was shown that the descending Passage, and what it leads to, represents the way of death, and all that goes with it, sorrow, pain, suffering, etc.and it is this that is coming to a dead-end to cease for ever at the end of the "Little Season" beyond the Millennium. The ascending passages, on the contrary, lead, not to dead ends, but to final above ground ventilated chambers (The King's and Queen's Chambers) with no passages beyond, and thus representing eternal destinies of life beyond all death--perfection of life--. Thus our reason, the Bible and the Pyramid independently proclaim with one voice that God is going to make a perfect job of our planet, and make of this world of ours a glorious place wherein pain, suffering, and death shall be no more and wherein nothing "shall hurt or destroy" and "sorrow and sighing shall flee away" (Isaiah 11: 9; 35:10).

The contrast between the first three chapters of the Bible and the last three is worthy of note. Genesis, chapters 1-3 describe sin, sorrow, suffering and death entering into the human race, while Revelation, chapters 20-22 describe the removal of all sin, sorrow, and death from the World, while all the intervening Books in the Bible reveal the history and purpose of the ages resulting in the glorious consummation of everlasting life and happiness in the Earth. The Bible story has all the fascinations of a thrilling novel, but excels a novel in that all the characters and places in it are real, and not fictitious, and it is all true, and winds up in a more glorious scene than has ever been portrayed in any novel or play and one that never passes away, thus disproving the erroneous saying that "all good things come to an end".

A similar contrast exists in the Great Pyramid between the downward system of passages and the upward system. The Descending Passage representing death and all that it entails slopes steeply down for hundreds of feet into the bowels of the Earth, into a Pit and a Dead End, while the Ascending Passages are entirely above-ground and slope steeply upwards for hundreds of feet high up into the interior of the Pyramid's masonry, culminating in magnificently constructed chambers, far above the ground, symbolizing perfection of life, with death eliminated--the same story as the Bible, for the Pyramid is indeed "the Bible in Stone".

Let us now trace the stately stepping's of our God, step by step, throughout the ages, past, present, and future to the glorious consummation when God's will is done here on Earth as it is in Heaven itself, as revealed in the Bible and the great Pyramid. It is well to observe at the outset that the Divine Plan revealed in the Bible and the Great Pyramid is in regard to this planet, Earth only, and not the great universe beyond, for which God will unmistakably have glorious plans also.

The first verse in the Bible, Genesis 1: 1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth", relates not to the beginning of all creation, but to the beginning of the seventh and latest stage of creation, that is the creation, that is the creation of matter and the material universe. Remarkably enough, the last Book in the Bible, Revelation, tells of a creation infinitely earlier than that spoken of in the first Book in the Bible, Genesis. In Revelation 3:14 we read of "the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God" and who also says of Himself "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last", and He says He is "the Son of God" (Rev. 2:18). It also references the seven thunders of God (Rev. 10: 4) And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not. The Seven Thunders (Bangs) are seven past universes and their secrets where sealed. Revelation also references the beginning and ending of a universe as a scroll which is unrolled and then rolled back up into itself. In St. John's Gospel (3:18), He is declared to be "the only begotten Son of God" and "the only begotten of the Father". The Apostle Paul says of him "who is the image of the invisible God the first born of all creation" (Col. 1:15). John 1:3 states that "All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made". Thus while God (Yavael) designed and planned the Universe the Sons of God (Elohim) carried out all the work, in accordance with the Father's will, as Jesus Himself said, "My meat is to do the will of Him (Yavael) that sent me and to finish His work (John 4:34). "I came not to do mine own will, but the will of Him that sent me" (John 6:38). So the Sons of God made the Universe not according to His (Elohim) own will but the Father's (Yavael), and He came to Earth also to do God's will, "the will for Him that sent me" after which mission He said "I ascend to my Father (Yavael) and your Father, and my God (Eloah) and your God." After his resurrection he also said "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth (Matt. 28:18).

On many occasions Christ said that, in due time, He is returning to our planet "I will come again" (John 14:3). At His Second Advent, it is written that He takes over as King of Israel (Luke 1: 32-33) and King of the World (Rev. 11:15), inaugurating "the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began", and reigning till "he hath put all enemies (of God and righteousness) under his feet." "The last enemy that shall be abolished is death."(1 Cor. 15: 25-26). When death is at an end, then all that goes with it, sorrow, sin and suffering, are ended too (Rev. 21:4) and God's will done on Earth as it is in Heaven, which, as we have seen, is the ultimate in the plan of God for our planet Earth. When this has been accomplished "Then cometh the end when he [Christ] shall deliver up the kingdom of God, even the Father; when he shall have abolished all rule and all authority and power. But when he saith, All things are put under him it is evident that he is excepted who did put all things under him, and when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that did put all things under him, that God may be all in all." (1 Cor. 24, 27-28.)

Having thus given the Plan of God in a nutshell, let us now go into this thrilling Plan in More detail. But first of all, however, it may be well to look briefly into the other creations which preceded man.

Long ages before the advent of man, indeed long before the Earth was formed, yea even before matter itself came into existence millions of years ago, there took place the creation of the celestial or ethereal realms in which is spirit life, all of which is normally not only invisible to mankind, but imperceptible to any of our five senses. It is recorded in Job 38: 4:7 that God said, "Where wast thou when I laid the foundation of the Earth...when all the sons of God shouted for joy? These "Son's of God" Elohim could not be human sons of God because the formation of the Earth occurred long before man appeared on it and indeed before any life, animal or vegetable, could exist on it. So those "Sons of God" were therefore from outer space, the ethereal realms, and often called spirits or spirit beings. Today there is evidently good and evil amongst them also, the good ones usually being called "holy angels" and the evil ones termed "demons", evil spirits or "devils". There are evidently different grades of spirit beings, just as there are different grades in the animal kingdom--however, that is a separate subject.

The beginning mentioned in Genesis 1:1 pertains to a later creation, the creation of matter and the material or physical universe, with all its suns (stars), planets, and moons ect. On the other hand, except for this first verse, the whole of Genesis, Chapter 1: 2-31, pertains to our Earth only and not to the Universe. Even these verses do not deal with the manner or time of the origin of the earth, but solely with the preparation of it for the habitat of man, the crown of terrestrial creation. How long the Earth was in existence in some form or other prior to the developments described in Genesis 1:2 onwards, is not stated. This preparation is stated as occupying six days. But the Hebrew word yom translated "day" does not necessarily mean a 24-hour day, but means any specific period of time.

For instance, in Genesis 2:4, the entire period of time covered by the events in chapter I is called a day. The word "day" is also so used in English. We say "Luther's day" meaning the specific time when Luther lived. The "days" in the first chapter of the Bible correspond to what today we would call geological periods, for the consecutive order of the developments in the days of creation in Genesis is precisely that revealed by the geologival periods in science. How long these "days" or periods were is not definitely revealed either by the Bible or by science, but the latter does indicate that they were long periods of time, though not so long as some geologists say. In Genesis 1, 14-18, the sun, moon, and stars are mentioned in connection with "the fourth day", but this has nothing to do with the creation of those bodies, for all of them together with the Earth itself were created long before the six preparation "days" ever began. The Hebrew word bara meaning "create" used in verse 1, is not the word translated "made" in these verses, wherein the verb used is asah, a word with many different shades of meaning and even in our Authorised Version of the Bible it is variously translated by some 60 different English words, including "appoint", "bring fourth", "cause". It will be observed that the particular purpose of the sun and moon here stated is that of giving light upon the earth (verse 15 and 17). Owing to the earth at this stage being enveloped by various gases and materials surrounding it until the close of the third "day" or epoch, the direct rays of the sun and moon did not reach the surface of the earth except perhaps in a very darkend diffused way. Being thus enveloped, the whole Globe must ahve been very warm. About the beginning of the fourth "day" or period this surrounding matter, evidently very much of a carboniferous nature, was precipitated, and the resultant layers combined with he trees and vegetation which it crushed became later, under other pressures, consolidated into what we now call the coal measures, in which many fossils of trees and plants are found today. This automatically allowed the sun, moon, and stars to shine directly right down to the surface of the Earth. Now the said Hebrew verb translated "made" in verse 16 would in the context, have been more accurately translated "brought forth" thus "God brought forth two great lights" [i.e. from behind the obscuring canopy].

This was followed in the fifth "day" or period by the creation of prolific life in the seas and waters, and in the air, which in turn was followed in the sixth great period or "day" by land animals and finally by the creation of man. The above sequence is completely confirmed by geological science.

Although the Bible and science are in agreement, nevertheless, wrong translations and interpretations of the Scriptures and erroneous scientific theories may, and do, clash. For example, Genesis, chapter 1, says that the trees and plants (verses 11 and 12), the sea-monsters (inadequately translated "whales" in the A.V, but correctly in the R.V) fish and other aquatic life, as well as birds and winged life (verses 20-22), and animals and all life on land (verses 24-25) were each created "after its own kind", and multiplied after their own respective kinds. No species has ever been known to develop into another species, although there are often many varieties within an individual species brought about by various natural factors, climate, food, environment, etc., but none of these factors can change a species, all of which were created "after their kind" and were respectively to reproduce "after their kind".

This does not conflict with any known scientific fact, while the facts in palaeontology (the science which deals with fossils) demonstrate the truth of it, notwithstanding a modern very widely accepted, but nevertheless unproven theory to the contrary. This theory is particularly attractive to atheists, who accept it unanimously, because it suits their wishful thinking to suppose that a species through millions of years very gradually blindly squirmed its way up somehow to a higher species. The supporters of this long-drawn-out blind squirm theory, originally named it by the tonded-down term "Evolution Theory", but in more recent times they have dropped the word "theory" and merely say "Evolution" which is very misleading and gives the false idea that it is factual instead of being an unproven theory. This practice is specially objectionable in schools; in fact, it is deceitful, for it deceives the pupils into thinking it is a fact, wheras all intelligent holders of the Evolution Theory know perfectly well that it is an unproven theory, notwithstanding all their wishful thinking. Indeed, Sir Authur Keith, one of the most intelligent and most ardent supporters of this blind squirm theory, not only admitted that "Evolution is unproven" but actually went the length of saying that it is "unproven and unprovable"! In view of this amazing admission by an outstanding Evolutionist, we naturally enquire, why does a scientist such as he be so unscientific as to accept a theory which he knows to be "unproven and unprovable"? His reply is contained in the Introduction which he wrote to The Origin of Species, wherein he stated "Evolution is unproved and unprovable. We believe it because the only alternative is special creation which is unthinkable." Unthinkable, forsooth! He seemed to forget that the most brilliant human mind is insignificant and extremely puny in comparison with the Infinite Mind of the Great First Cause, Almighty God, and that the Almighty is all-mighty, as the greatest mathematician of the century, Professor Albert Einstein, said, "The scientist's religious feeling takes the form of a rapturous amazement at the harmony of natural law, which reveals an Intelligence of such superiority that compared with it, all the systematic thinking and acting of human beings is an utterly insignificant reflection" (The world as I see it, page 9).

Even the term "Evolution Theory" itself is misleading. The word "evolution" gives teh impression of systematic development whereas the so-called Evolution Theory is just the opposite, for it involves a blind squirming with the so-called "survival of the fittest". The most accurate name we can think of that truthfully conveys the actual conception of what it really is, is Blind Squirm Theory, and it would be a good thing if people would use this name, as it would help to break down wrong impressions and expose false claims.

But just because Sir Authur Keith's mind could not grasp the Special Creation origin of living creatures, that does not prove it to be untrue for there are many things beyond the ability of the human mind to understand that are known to be true, as everyone knows. So to Sir Aurthur Keith, sir Julian Huxley, and all others who hold to the "unproven and unprovable" Blind Squirm Theory (as the author prefers to call it) we would say in the words of Jesus to the Sadduccees who did not believe in the resurrection, "Ye do err, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God" (Matt 22: 29; Mark 12:24). So we reject in total the Blind Squirm Theory, and accept only demonstrated truth in Science and Divine Inspiration in Religion, and these two are in perfect harmony because all truth is harmonious, and nowhere is this fact more forcefully demonstrated that in Pyramidology, as the science which coordinates, combines, and verifies science and religion, and is thus the meeting place of the two. When the Great Pyramid is properly understood and universally studied, false religions and erroneous scientific theories will alike vanish and true religion and true science will be demonstrated to be harmonious.

Behold this mighty beauteous wonder!
O Pyramid of God's own splendor.
O mighty glorious altar so dear,
Let us hear, let us know of thy secrets made clear.
What a glorious sight to behold;
What marvelous mysteries now unfold.
God's hidden plan revealed to man,
From ages past, at last made known.
Every stone, every inch of thy marvelous being
Are glories, are secrets our hearts are now seeing.
He drew His plan for all mankind
And left it there for us to find.
Thy casing stones of dazzling white
All shining with a heavenly light
Reflect the glories hid within
Reflect the beauty that is Him.
What glories, what secrets, what marvelous truths
Have you held for these many long years.
But now, praise to God, you speak loud and clear
As His Kingdom and glorious Reign nears.--Dixielee Errico
Manetho, the Egyptian priest and scribe, is quoted by Josephus and others, as saying, "We had formerly a king whose name was Timaus. In his time it came to pass, I know not how, that the Diety was displeased with us. And there came up from the East in a strange manner men of an ignoble race, who had the confidence to invade our country, and easily subdued it by their power without a battle. And when they had our leaders in their hands they demolished the temples of the gods." This King Timaus of Manetho may have referred to Chops during whose reign the Great Pyramid was built.Manetho continues, "All this nation was styled Hycsos, the Shepard Kings. The first syllable, 'hyc,' according to sacred dialect, denoted a king, and the 'sos' signified a shepherd according to the vulgar tongue; and of these is compounded the term Hycsos. Some say they were Arabians." Manetho wrote about 300 years before Christ and some authorities hold that Manetho mixed up the history of another set of shepherd kings of a much later dynasty. However, the ground of his story belongs to the period of Cheops and the Great Pyramid, for it was then that the events he relates occurred; the control of the reigning sovereigns by a shepherd prince, the temples closed, the gods destroyed and the people pressed into labor for the government.Archbishop Ussher, the noted Church historian, in his chronology, refers to the migration of the Shepherd Kings from Arabia into Egypt. From Ussher and other authorities, it seems that some "Shepherd-Prince coming from Arabia or Palestine was enabled to exert such an amount of mental control over King Cheops as to induce the King to shut up the idolatrous temples and compel his subjects to labor in the erection of the Great Pyramid." Under this "Shepherd-Prince," Egypt's national religion was overturned in favor of the more simple worship of the One True God.Upon completion of the Great Pyramid, ancient writings of the historians say that the "foreign" people withdrew and their departure was the cause of great rejoicing among the Egyptians. The restraint being removed, the people returned with fresh zest to their idolatrous practices.Because chronology and the findings of archaeology have established the date of the start of the building of the Great Pyramid at 2623 B.C., many Egyptologists have disputed the Hyksos identity of the builders. They have labeled a much later date for the invasion of Egypt by the Hyksos and assigned a period of 1800 - 1500 B.C., as their domination of parts of Egypt. However, it is generally agreed that the beginnings of the Hyksos control of Egypt are obscure and that during the period of the Third and Fourth Dynasties, the Egyptians furnished the labor for the erection of several pyramids, culminating in the Great Pyramid.Living in Arabia, at the time of the building of the Great Pyramid, were descendants of Seth, of whom Josephus wrote, "They were the inventors of the peculiar sort of wisdom which is concerned with the heavenly bodies and their order. And that their inventions might not be lost before they were sufficiently known...they made two pillars, the one of brick, the other of stone, they inscribed their discoveries on them both..." Josephus goes on to state that the pillar of stone "remains in the land of Siriad to this day." (A.D 37-95) Siriad would indicate the Siriadic, or Sirius-worshipping land of Egypt, where Sirius was venerated as the star of Isis.Herodotus, who made inquiries of the Egyptian priests regarding the builders of the Great Pyramid was also told the builders were strangers to Egypt and told of a particular individual who played an important part in the construction. The precise words recorded by Herodotus are: "They commonly call the pyramids after Philition, a shepherd who at that time fed his flocks about the place." Other ancient historians made reference to Philition, sometimes called "philitis," indicating he came from Philistia. (Palestine) Some authorities on the Great Pyramid have suggested that Philitis was none other than Melchizedek, King of Salem, to whom Abraham paid tithes. This thought is based on Manetho's statement that the "Arabians" (meaning the builders) when they left Egypt, instead of returning to Arabia, went to "that country now called Judea, and there built a city and named it Jerusalem." It is quite possible that Philitis was the founder and builder of Jerusalem and the original founder of the Divinely ordained order of the MelchizedekPriesthood, which was still in power in Jerusalem 500 years later, in Abraham's day. We note that Abraham paid reverence and tithes, and from Melchizedek he accepted blessings and communion; one who was called "priest of the Most High God." With reference to his character and office, the Bible calls him "Melchizedek," plainly a descriptive and not a proper name, he being first "King of Righteousness" and after that also "King of Salem." (Heb. 7: 1,2) Thus, it is more likely Abraham paid tithes to a "descendant" of the Melchizedek Priesthood Dynasty. It is significant that a conspicuous stranger to Egypt, possessed of flocks and herds, sojourned about the locality of the Great Pyramid for all the years it was being built. Then, centuries later, the Egyptian priests considered him its real originator and architect, Cheops merely furnishing the site, the workmen and materials. With reference to his character and office, the Bible calls him "Melchizedek," plainly a descriptive and not a proper name, he being first "King of Righteousness" and after that also "King of Salem." Then, centuries later, the Egyptian priests considered him its real originator and architect, Cheops merely furnishing the site, the workmen and materials. If the ancient historians are correct that "Philition" or "Philitis" came from arabia and of the people descended from Seth, then we may look to the Scriptures for his identification. The greatest and mightiest population of ancient Arabia was mainly, if not exclusively, of pre-Abrahamic Shemitic stock. The Tribes which possessed it were mostly of the seed of Joktan, son of Eber, till the descendants of Abraham though Esau and Keturah and the descendants of Lot began to fill in from the northwest. These "Joktanites" were the true Arabians, and the superior people who planted their colonies in Eastern Africa, around the whole eastern coast of the Mediterranean and Jerah, from whom we have the name "Arabia, the land of Jerah."Joktan had thirteen sons; the eldest was Almodad, (Elmodad in the Septuagint Text, meaning "God is a friend") whose name in Hebrew means "the Measurer." Almadad is described in the Chaldaic Paraphrase of Johanthan as the inventor of Geometry and the Measurer of the Earth, and certainly the Great Pyramid was constructed according to a marvelous geometric design. Job, the youngest son of Joktan is also mentioned in connection with the building of the Great Pyramid. In the 38th chapter of the Book of Job, the Almighty speaks to Job as if he were the identical person who had laid the measures of the Pyramid, stretched the lines upon it, set its foundations in their sockets, and laid the corner stone. In Job 38: 4-7 we read "Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof: When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?"It is obvious that if the creation of the earth is here alluded to, it is described under a type of something else, and not as the earth really was created. The same book of Job describes creation in the following words, "He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing." (Job 26:7)The first parts of Job 38 might apply to the building of any ordinary house, but as successive practical features are enumerated, the building of a stone pyramid by careful measure, and on a previously prepared platform of rock, is the only known work that will fully correspond. The stretching of the line "upon" it, is more applicable to the inclined surface of a pyramid with an angle to the horizon of 51 51' 14.3", than to the vertical walls of any ordinary house. It appears the object of the passage in Job 38: is to convince Job of his in competency to judge and understand God. The address seems to sound as if the Creator intended to say to him, "You laid the foundations of the great structure in Egypt, but where were you when I laid the foundation of the far greater pyramid of the earth? You laid the measures on the pyramid in Egypt, but who laid the measures on the earth and stretched the line upon it?" You fastened down in sockets the foundation of the pyramid in Egypt, but where upon are the foundations of the earth fastened? You laid the corner stone amid songs and jubilations, but who laid the cornerstone of the earth when the celestial morning stars sang together, and all the heavenly sons of God shouted for joy?"The image is unquestionably that of the Great Pyramid and is suggestive that it was the builder of that pyramid who is thus addressed. However, the conversation between Job and God does not necessarily mean that Job was the chief builder, only that he completed some of the necessary layout. Other members of the Joktan family could have been involved. The second son of Joktan was called "Sheleph" and was represented by the Chaldaic paraphrase of Jonathan as "one who drew off the waters from the rivers." These terms could apply to "drawing off" the waters of the Nile.

About the time of the building of the Great Pyramid there existed a great man-made basin know as the Lake of Moeris, which served as a storage for water diverted from the Nile River during unusual flooding. Herodotus describes the lake as having a circumference equaling about 223 English miles and depth of about 300 feet. Herodotus wrote, "That water which is in the lake, is not native to the place, for the land is excessively dry: but it is conveyed by a trench from the Nile; six months it flows inward into the lake (a distance of 10 miles) and six months outward into the Nile again."

In 1845, M. Linant de Bellefonds discovered the actual site of the lake. In earlier times it appeared to have been a natural basin, enlarged by digging, but reduced today in size to about 92 English feet circumference; its modern size and depth of only 25 English feet being due to deposits left every time the waters of the Nile subsided. M. Linant also discovered parts of the trench that diverted water from the Nile into the lake and remnants of a lateral trench, or fosse, that would carry the side stream into the river again. By means of dikes, water was stored in the lake or allowed to run back into the river, exactly as alluded to by Herodotus.
M. Linant estimated that "the high water brought into the Lake Moeris by the Bahr Yousef (the canal) during a high inundation, was the twenty-eighth part of the total flow of the Nile. Therefore it can be imagined that, by directing so considerable a flow of the river, it was possible to prevent the damage sustained at that period from the superabundant overflow...Thus the Lake Moeris would fulfill the objective attributed to it by the historical traditions."

Modern engineers who have studied the Lake Moeris scheme say the greatness of the work is incredible for the period in which the project was built. A large labor force would have taken several years to complete and be directed by one highly knowledgeable in engineering and construction. Such a project would have been beneficial to the inhabitants of Egypt as well as for the builders of the Pyramid who where dependent on the Nile River for the conveyance of stone from the quarries. One can believe it was the work of Sheleph, the second son of Joktan, and done during the ten years of preparation work on the site of the Great Pyramid.
Peleg, the uncle of Almadad (Gen. 10:25-26) and the son of Eber, or Heber, (whose descendants became known as Hebrews) was also contemporary with the building of the Great Pyramid. We read Peleg; "in his day was the earth divided." (Gen. 10-25; 1 Chron. 1:19) Since the Earth is incapable of separation from some thing else, we must conceive some division of the Earth which would not destroy its unity. A division effected geometrically, such as into degrees, minutes and seconds would be applicable to the expression, "was divided." The location of the Great Pyramid which divides the land surfaces of the world into equal parts - all the land east of the meridian on which the Pyramid stands being equal (within the limits of computation) to the west of it, is physical application of that expression.

Another personage whose name is often linked to the building of the Great Pyramid is Enoch, the seventh from Adam, (Jude 14) who lived 365 years (Gen. 5:23) and perhaps to be more exact (since there are 365.242 days in a year - a prophetic 'day') 365.242 years, the value of the solar year. Ancient historians have referred to the Great Pyramid as the "Pillar of Enoch" and the circle formed in the Ante-Chamber as the "Enoch Circle." This "Enoch Circle" of 365.242353 units pervades the entire structure and constitutes the basis upon which the entire geometric design of the Great Pyramid is constructed.

The Apocryphal Book of Enoch, compiled about the 2nd Century B.C., speaks of Enoch as having received from God a scientific revelation as well as a prophetic or spiritual one. Included in the revelation was information concerning the courses and times of the heavenly bodies. (stars and cycles) From its Polar Star orientation to its defining the Precession of the equinoxes, the Great Pyramid is replete with astronomical features. And it is the symbolism of the Enoch Circle that reveals the prophetic revelations of the Pyramid.

Since Enoch's "age" was from the 43rd to the 40th century B.C he was no longer living on the Earth at the time of the building of the Great Pyramid. Scientific and prophetic information found in the Pyramid (attributed to Enoch) was most probably passed on from Enoch to his descendants, through Noah and his son Shem, and his descendants, to the Joktan family. No doubt the Sacred Cubit was among the revelations from Enoch, and was employed by Noah in the building of the Ark. After its use in the Great Pyramid, this Cubit was employed by Moses in construction of the Wilderness Tabernacle, and later by King Solomon in the erection of the Temple at Jerusalem.
One other nominee for the builder of the Great Pyramid is Shem, the eldest of the sons of Noah. Jewish tradition has it that Shem was Melchizedik, King of Salem, (also called Jerusalem) If so, he could have been the Shepherd Patriarch "Philition" of the Egyptian writers and the founder of the Melchizedek dynasty. The word "Philition" is a Greek word and appears to be compounded of "Philo" meaning "I love" and "ithus" meaning "upright", "just", or "equitable."Based upon the Chronology of the Massoretic Text, Shem would have lived during the period of building the Great Pyramid; however, modern chronology places him before the building of the Pyramid. It has been determined that the Massoretes systematically subtracted a hundred years from the times of each of the Patriarchs, in nearly every instance. The Septuagint, which all give the longer Chronology, have been found compatible with the Dead Sea Scrolls. The longer chronology places the Flood at 3145 B.C. Since Shem begat Arphaxad two years after the Flood and lived a further 500 years (Gen. 11: 10-11) he would have died 502 years after the flood, or 2643 B.C. This would be 20 years before the start of the building of the Pyramid. If this be the case, then Shem could have prepared the architectural design of the Great Pyramid before his death, and arranged to have it constructed by his immediate descendants. The absolute identity of the builder or builders of the Great Pyramid remains one of its hidden secrets. No archaeological or historical evidence can be pointed to that would positively identify a single individual. Based on the evidence we have, we can conclude that we have a descendant of Shem (if not himself) as the builder. Whether Shem was living at the time of the building of the Pyramid is questionable but cannot be entirely ruled out. A little refinement of Chronology might place Shem in the time frame. However, it is most probable that Joktan, his thirteen sons and their uncle Peleg as a group constituted the builders.
